Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service form an agreement between you and Uncharted. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Uncharted.
If you use Uncharted for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes the organization where appropriate.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required to consent to online services where you live. If you are not old enough to agree on your own, a parent or legal guardian must review and accept these Terms for you.
Provide accurate account information, keep credentials confidential, and promptly tell us if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless applicable law says otherwise. One person may not impersonate another or create accounts to evade restrictions.
The service we provide
Uncharted provides interactive lessons, browser-based exercises and simulations, progress tracking, automated checks, AI-assisted feedback for certain responses, and related learning features. Features may be experimental and can change as the curriculum develops.
Uncharted offers a Free plan and an optional paid Pro plan, described below and on our Pricing page.
Plans, billing, and cancellation
The Free plan is available at no charge and includes access to free courses with standard AI usage limits. Pro is offered at USD 4 per month and includes access to Pro courses and higher AI usage limits. Higher limits are not unlimited, and limits may vary by AI feature.
We will not charge you for Pro unless you expressly confirm a purchase. Payments are processed by Polar, our merchant of record, on a hosted checkout page that shows the final price, billing interval, renewal terms, and any additional charges before you pay. Pro is a recurring monthly subscription and renews as disclosed at checkout until canceled.
You can cancel before the next renewal to stop future charges from the billing page linked in your account settings. Access to Pro continues until the end of the paid period. The checkout terms explain what refund policy applies. Nothing in those terms limits any mandatory cancellation, refund, or consumer rights that apply where you live.
We may change the Pro features, usage limits, or price. If you are subscribed, we will provide advance notice of a price increase as required by applicable law. A fee will never be imposed retroactively without your agreement.
Learning and AI limitations
Uncharted is an educational tool, not an accredited institution, certification program, employer, or guarantee of academic or professional results. Curriculum and feedback may contain mistakes or become outdated. You remain responsible for checking work that matters outside the learning environment.
Automated grading, including AI-assisted feedback on open-ended answers, is probabilistic. It may misunderstand a correct answer or approve an incomplete one. Treat the feedback as a learning aid rather than an authoritative assessment or professional advice.
Acceptable use
You may use Uncharted only lawfully and in a way that respects the service and others.
You must not:
- access another person's account or misrepresent your identity;
- probe, bypass, disable, or interfere with security, rate limits, or access controls;
- send malware, destructive code, automated scraping, or traffic that burdens the service;
- use lessons, submissions, or uploads to violate law or another person's rights;
- extract, resell, or republish substantial parts of the curriculum without permission;
- manipulate completion records, XP, assessments, or platform behavior dishonestly; or
- use the service to develop, distribute, or facilitate harmful or abusive activity.
Reasonable security research is welcome only with prior written authorization and within the scope we approve.
Your content
You retain ownership of original content you submit, such as profile images, written answers, and code. You grant Uncharted a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, copy, transmit, process, adapt, and display that content only as needed to operate, secure, improve, and support the service.
This license lasts while the content is held by the service and for a reasonable period in backups or logs. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit the content and that our permitted use will not violate anyone else's rights.
Uncharted content and software
Uncharted and its licensors own the service, curriculum, visual design, artwork, software, trademarks, and other materials we provide, except for your content and third-party materials. These Terms give you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for learning.
No other rights are granted by implication. Feedback and suggestions are welcome; you allow us to use them without restriction or compensation, but you are not required to provide them.
Third-party services
Uncharted relies on third-party services for authentication, hosting, analytics, storage, and automated grading. Their availability and processing may be governed by separate terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party products or websites that we do not control.
Google sign-in is optional. Using it also subjects your interaction with Google to Google's terms and privacy practices.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the route open, but the service may experience outages, errors, maintenance, data loss, or discontinued features. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Uncharted. Where practical, we will give reasonable notice of material changes.
You are responsible for keeping copies of content you need. We do not promise that every lesson, feature, or account record will remain available forever.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using Uncharted at any time and may request account deletion as described in the Privacy Policy. We may restrict or terminate access when we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created risk or harm, failed to pay an agreed fee, or when required by law.
When appropriate, we will try to provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute terms, will survive.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Uncharted is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, accurate, or error-free. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Uncharted and its contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or opportunities arising from the service.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Uncharted in the 12 months before the claim or US $100. These limits do not apply where prohibited or to liability that cannot legally be limited.
Disputes and general terms
Before filing a formal claim, please email us and give both sides 30 days to try to resolve the issue informally. Nothing here prevents either side from seeking urgent injunctive relief or using a small-claims process where available.
Applicable law governs these Terms without regard to conflict-of-law rules, subject to any mandatory consumer protections where you live. If one provision is unenforceable, the rest remain effective. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization or transfer of the service.
Changes and contact
We may update these Terms. We will change the effective date and provide additional notice when a change materially affects your rights. Continuing to use Uncharted after the new effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
Questions, notices, and informal dispute requests can be sent to support@updates.theuncharted.dev.
