Warehouses, Not CabinetsChoose object storage for large byte objects and a database for the searchable metadata that describes them.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Object Storage's PromisesDistinguish keyed object-storage operations from relational queries and transactional work that belong in a metadata database.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Pointers in the DatabaseModel a media metadata row that points to object bytes while preserving ownership, presentation, and lifecycle fields for queries.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
The Upload DetourExplain how a short-lived signed upload separates authorization from large-byte transfer through application servers.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Draw the UploadDesign a direct-upload path that notifies a media service and records searchable metadata after object storage receives the bytes.ProDiagramConcept10 min20 XPOpen
Many Sizes of YouChoose between upload-time and on-demand media variants based on predictable reuse, first-read latency, and unused work.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
The Resize PipelineDesign an asynchronous resize pipeline that fans work out to workers and writes derivatives to separate storage so outputs cannot retrigger processing.ProDiagramConcept10 min20 XPOpen
Napkin: Media StorageCalculate daily media growth from originals and retained variants using decimal megabyte-to-terabyte conversion.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Media from the EdgeConstruct a CDN cache key that distinguishes both the source object and the requested media variant.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Hot and ColdChoose storage tiers from access frequency, retrieval-latency needs, and retention requirements.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Video Is ChunksExplain how numbered video segments allow playback to begin before the complete object is downloaded.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
The Quality LadderSelect the next adaptive-bitrate segment from current bandwidth and buffer pressure to preserve playback continuity.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
The Transcode FarmDesign a video pipeline that queues originals for parallel transcoding, stores playback variants separately, and serves cache misses to a CDN.ProDiagramConcept10 min20 XPOpen
Resume the UploadSequence a multipart upload so an interrupted client discovers and retransmits only missing chunks before committing the object.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
The Same File TwiceUse a content hash to deduplicate identical bytes while keeping ownership and authorization in separate metadata records.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Deleting Is a PipelineTrace deletion across metadata, read blocking, CDN invalidation, and durable-object cleanup so no stale copy remains accessible.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Read the Storage ChartInterpret storage-class trends to detect temporary objects that are accumulating because lifecycle cleanup is missing.ProInteractiveConcept8 min20 XPOpen
The Photo-Share BlueprintDesign an end-to-end photo path with direct original uploads, searchable metadata, asynchronous variants, and CDN delivery without resize loops.ProDiagramProject10 min20 XPOpen
Explain the DetourExplain the direct-upload control and data paths from limited authorization through object transfer and later metadata completion.ProInteractiveConcept8 min20 XPOpen
Storage and Media Mastery CheckIntegrate direct upload, metadata, isolated processing inputs and outputs, parallel workers, and CDN delivery into one media architecture.ProDiagramMastery check10 min40 XPOpen
