Shortener: The BriefTranslate a read-heavy link-shortener workload into separate redirect-latency, creation-rate, and retention requirements.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Shortener: The KeyCalculate a fixed-alphabet short-code keyspace and handle collisions with an atomic uniqueness constraint and retry.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Shortener: The DataDesign the redirect lookup so a short code keys a hot cache while a durable database remains the source of truth.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Shortener: The BlueprintBuild a read-scaled link shortener with balanced redirect services, a shared hot-link cache, and durable link storage.ProDiagramProject10 min20 XPOpen
Shortener at 100xDiagnose database pressure from the cache-miss path and choose a remedy that changes miss volume or concurrency.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Search: The BriefRecognize when a strict per-keystroke latency budget requires suggestions to be prepared off the request path.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
The Inverted IndexExplain how an inverted index maps each term to a posting list so queries avoid scanning every document.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
The Prefix ServiceExplain how precomputed top suggestions make hot-prefix reads fast and how background refresh controls freshness.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Search: The BlueprintDesign a low-latency query path alongside an asynchronous content-to-index refresh path.ProDiagramProject10 min20 XPOpen
Search Under LoadSeparate hot-prefix cache skew from expensive miss processing and target the measured source of search load.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Feed: The BriefSeparate a feed’s publish path from its reader-specific assembly path so fan-out and freshness costs are explicit.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Push or PullCompare fan-out on write and fan-out on read by where each strategy spends storage, write work, and read latency.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
The Celebrity ProblemUse hybrid fan-out to avoid enormous celebrity write bursts while keeping ordinary-author feed reads inexpensive.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Feed: The BlueprintDesign a durable feed pipeline that atomically records publish intent, fans out through an outbox, and supports cached plus pull-on-read results.ProDiagramProject10 min20 XPOpen
Feed FreshnessAnchor feed pagination to an immutable sort tuple and optional snapshot while treating asynchronous ranking freshness as a budget.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Chat: The BriefSeparate chat guarantees for live delivery, per-conversation order, approximate presence, and durable offline catch-up.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
The Connection LayerUse a connection directory to route a live message to the socket gateway currently holding a user’s session.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Inbox and SyncUse per-conversation sequence numbers to order messages and request deterministic offline catch-up without wall clocks.ProInteractiveConcept7 min20 XPOpen
Chat: The BlueprintDesign independent persistence and live-delivery consumers with durable history, gateway routing, and push fallback for offline users.ProDiagramProject10 min20 XPOpen
Blueprints Mastery CheckScale a link shortener with redundant balancing, cached reads, and a stable database endpoint that can route to a promoted replica.ProDiagramMastery check10 min40 XPOpen
